Position Overview

Village Vet Clinic is looking for an enthusiastic, animal-loving Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinary team. As a veterinary assistant, you will be the backbone of our clinic operations, helping with animal care, facility maintenance, and client communication. This is a perfect entry-level position for someone passionate about pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. Key Responsibilities

• Greet pets and owners with warmth and professionalism
• Assist with animal handling, restraint, and positioning during exams
• Help with animal bathing, grooming, and basic hygiene care
• Clean and sanitize examination rooms, cages, and equipment
• Monitor hospitalized animals and report changes to veterinary staff
• Prepare animals for examinations and procedures
• Assist with basic laboratory sample collection
• Maintain supplies and restock examination areas
• Answer phones and schedule appointments (minimal training required)
• Support the front desk and clinical staff as needed
• Ensure the clinic environment is clean, safe, and welcoming

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Passion for animal care and welfare
• Ability to handle animals with gentleness and confidence
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliability and strong work ethic
• Flexibility and willingness to learn
• Comfort with exposure to normal veterinary procedures and environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous veterinary clinic or animal shelter experience
• Customer service experience in a medical or healthcare setting
• Some basic computer skills and familiarity with medical software
• Interest in pursuing veterinary technician certification or veterinary studies
